Sam Villis

A multifaceted service designer with over 10 years experience within the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. I combine agile methods with design research and service design. Focusing on effective and empowered teams and developing service-centred organisatons that deliver long-term approaches to some of the toughest problems.

Human Centred Design

A golden thread of User or Human Centred design has defined my career to date. I’m adept at identifying users and their needs, planning and conducting user research, and championing human centred design approaches.

I’ve extensive experience of thematic analysis and synthesis, defining elegant solutions and compelling visuals as well as ideation and service concept development, and prototype testing.

Agile working

An expert in agile delivery practices. I have relevant training in scrum and product and always take an iterative and adaptive approach to delivery. At the Government Digital Service I was a lead service assessor for Service Standard Assessments and at DLUHC I helped Local Authorities to deliver complex digital services.

Organisational design

I’m adept at understanding and working within organisational constraints to delivering services, negotiating within organisational power structures and making cases for change. I’m also adept at identifying stakeholders, making the best use of their expertise and demonstrating ongoing value delivery to support buy-in.
